A TOAST TO POETRY

These are the words , I longed to confess. From that moment I caught a glimpse of your face. Words that have stirred an emotional cocktail, an elixir to my thoughts when frail. For so long, I kept you under a veil but now gasp at the glamour of your beauty. Your tough and smooth skin polished with vanity, makes my heart twist and turn. In the flames of love you ignited; you watch me burn. Your hypnotic eyes shout aloud in pain. All because of the sandy sheets you’ve been lain.

You‘ve taken sadness and placed joy. Take broken hearts and mended them all. Turned cuts, bruises, and blisters to scars with your soothing whispers. Briskly saved lips that nearly kissed death and called out injustices, pinned them on a wall. Verily you’ve done it all!

You’ve made seduction much more pleasant. Ohh, how I envy Pesh to whom you’re never distant! Tickled my intellect with utmost [finess explicit]. While I’m locked onto your scent, wondering where you could be. You’re watching sunsets with [The Malbie]. Your wide hips make me stagger, and yet I can still trace the prints of [Nzubuga]. With my jealousy, I can rant on and on, but I choose to sit under the oaks with [John]. In confidence that I now hold you at the twist of my pen while I write to my new friend [PoeticZen].

With a tap of a [Burton],I phone [Felsie] to write an Ode or sonnet to the one that I so dearly love. As we gather here I invite us all to raise our glasses as I propose a toast to POETRY.

Healthy Weeknight Meals

Cooking can sometimes feel like a chore at the end of a busy day. It’s often tempting to throw a ready meal in the oven or call for take out. But preparing a simple and healthy family meal doesn’t have to be hard or time-consuming. Here are some quick wholesome dishes that you and your family will love. They can even be prepared in advance.

Breakfast at my House

During the week we’re often walking out the door with a coffee in one hand and slice of toast in the other, but on weekends breakfast is never rushed. It’s a late affair, sometimes spilling over to lunch, with lots of reading and chatter in between courses of fruits, poached eggs, honey and toast. One of our favorite things we like to serve when friends are visiting are buckwheat blueberry pancakes.
